About Joyce

Hello there Dear Friends and Gentle Readers! I'm Joyce Ann Underwood, but you can call me "Joyce". A writer of creative non-fiction, I am originally from Crescent City, FL.  I am wife to j^C, mommy to That Sprout, Cody Cornelius, and Molly-Gator, and friend to too many lovely people to name here. My passions are: Duran Duran, writing, and rock music. I think everyone should Write Like a Rock Star.

I have been writing since I could hold a crayon. After earning a Bachelor's Degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of West Florida I spent 2 years leading creative writing workshops in Savannah, GA with the DEEP program before moving to Fayetteville, NC. My publications include Kairos, Offbeat Home, and HIV Here & Now. Most recently I was a featured reader at the Southern Writers Symposium at Methodist University. Currently, I blog at First Person Narrative and I guest blog every second and fourth Monday on SchanEllis.com.

I work with authors to help them tell their stories. Whether you need help getting the words from your brain to the page or from the page to the printer, I can help. I specialize in fine details and clients with specials needs. Growing up in Crescent City, I spent many afternoons listening to the old-timers tell the life stories of about just about everyone they had ever known. From this sprung a love for oral storytelling that would grow into a refined passion during my years studying Medieval Oral Poetry at the University of West Florida.  I want to help you tell your story. No job is too big or too small. Everybody has a story. What's yours?
